My MIL is here for a week. She brought with her gifts from my SIL who jes recently visited China. The gifts are crystal bracelets. 1 for me, 1 for T. I wasn’t that averse to the idea until she mentioned – they are also for “phik cheh” (halau benda kotor / keeps the bad spirits away). Pengsan! As a good christian, I should jes decline the gift straight off. But, it seemed rude to do so, and if u know me, u’ll know that sometimes, I’m obliging to a BIG fault. I wrapped them up and put it in a far corner of my drawers.
Next morning, horror of horrors! - I saw T wearing his! You probably think I’m over-reacting or being silly, but man + jewellery, to me, jes look like a pimp lar. So man plus “phik cheh” jewellery? What else… superstitious pimp. Seeing this, for me, is tantamount to seeing a croakcroach or centipede – my spine freezes.
Sigh… what can I say… after so many years of marriage, when you’re supposed to “renew attractions” with each other, you suddenly find your significant other WEARING BRACELETS!
So…. I made it crystal clear that I “beh tahan” the sight of him with that thing on his wrist, which of course he had no qualms ignoring. You see, to him, mom is always right – I usually have no objections to that (hey, I’m a mom too.. ). And then, guess what happens, that nite, he started to feel sick. Feverish, and most suspiciously, a day-long spate of hiccups that doesn’t seem to be going away. I went in for the kill. “U c, u c… this kind of thing cannot simply wear one. If bor ngam u, funny things start to happen.” See - I have to speak this language sometimes. Talk like auntie so that uncle listens. :P
“OK, why not u try taking it off for a nite and see what happens.” Silently, I prayed… “God, your turn now!” And halelujah! In less than an hour, his hiccup stops, and he felt a lot better. The cheeky side of me challenged – “Now, wanna wear back that thingy and see what happens?” One eyebrow (mine) blatantly raised. He din say anything.
So, T, if you still read my blogs, and you’re reading this… please… don’t… wear that thing…ever again!
leave me a message

If we give this a name, would be called - fashion politics. :P
Hahahaa... everyone has their own fashion sense...
but I'm tickled by the fact that you have to carefully manuevre around the MIL (and indirectly the SIL). LOL.
That's life...
I have a friend who was a devoted Buddhist too last time. Being vegetarian, going to temple every week, chanting everyday, living with nuns for months and all. But I'm not really sure what happened to her, one day she suddenly came up to me, and asked me not to tell her parents that she's already a Christian now. She was "touched" by God, according to her.
Well, I shall remain as a self thinker for now. =)

You may have unknowingly saved T as Chinese believed that our health or wealth can be affected due to clash in the 5 elements (however you may have violated human rights ..hehe).
If T is wood or metal element, wearing Crystal (typically fire, depending on type) could affect him. However, if you are earth element one… then crystal very good… maybe can strike 4D, ha! ha!
If you are curious enough, to know your element, refer to BAZI study by Joey Yap or Lilian Too…. Can go bookshop to look up, no need to buy-lah.…not religious, similar to fengshui, more on invisible energy like chi which science cannot prove. But remember, cannot prove existence does not mean non-existence.

David, yes, like dis oso can. :P
Blindfolded, yup. God must hv lend a helping hand. :) N I'm jes so glad he is not wearin it anymore n his mom actually don't mind. (Taking them eating out and shopping at QB to show my "respect". :))

When I first see the subject / equation without reading the article the first impression or answer coming out from my mind is "hole in pocket -> $ fly away" . After reading it ... ha ha ha ...OIC.

Erm... One comment on then 'pick cheh' thingy. I believe that it is just a coincidence on T falling sick and wearing the bracelet. If we do not believe the power of the crystal, and simply renounce the power in the name of Christ, neither the crystal will do good nor harm us. Anyway, God has definitely used some of his might to soothe your anxiety... :-)
Btw, if T wears it out of respect to his mom, then he should, but let T remind her that he doesn't need charm to 'pick cheh'... :-P
Gnap is a simpleton MO2 workin in a Yankee MNC, who (day) dreams like a teenager, behaves like a 20somethin, looks like a 30+, (sometimes) feels like a 40+, n as ambitious as d 50+ auntie next-door...
